This research report analyses the policies of the three most important players in the international effort to combat climate change - India, China and Kazakhstan. The choice of these countries for research by SKOLKOVO experts is not accidental.
Despite the great importance of these states for the global environmental agenda, there have been practically no comparative studies on their climate policies, especially from the standpoint of Russia's interests. China, having experienced an impressive economic development and faced large-scale environmental challenges along the way, has radically changed its course over the past few years and plans to realign its economy in accordance with the current requirements of the climate agenda. Kazakhstan, despite the difficult starting position due to the structure of its energy, nevertheless strives to assume a leading role in the climate change combat in the Central Asian region. The approach to the climate change agenda adopted by India within its economy development will largely determine the overall prospects for global efforts towards limiting emission levels.
