Armenia 2030: Transforming the Development Landscape

Institute for Emerging Market Studies

About research

This report represents the regional analysis of the existing space for the emergence of new 'hybrid' business-led development models in Armenia during the SDG era of 2015-2030. In this analysis IEMS treats development space defined through the Sustainable Development Goals’ perspective as the so-called “market” with designated supply and demand sides, segments and volumes. The forward-looking Development 2.0 vision for Armenia presented in the report is based on the comprehensive analysis of Armenia's past experience in implementing development interventions between 2000 and 2015. The analysis is concluded with the five basic principles for development-oriented strategic planning, which have been generated as the result of the bottom-up analysis of 465 loans extended to borrowers from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and six interview-based case studies on completed and ongoing Armenian development interventions.
