Sven is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management with extensive international academic and professional experience across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He earned his PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University (Triple Crown accredited: AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA).
His research focuses on the strategic management and development of multinational enterprises (MNEs) and their foreign subsidiaries, with a particular interest in innovation, networks, sustainability, and the role of top management team diversity in emerging markets. He has published widely in leading journals including the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of International Management, Journal of Knowledge Management, and Thunderbird International Business Review. His work has received international recognition, including Best Paper Awards from the European Journal of International Management (2019) and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences (2020). A publication in the Journal of Knowledge Management was recently ranked #1 worldwide in the field of complexity theory and fsQCA applications.
Sven has taught undergraduate and MBA audiences in China (including Hong Kong), the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and the UK. His teaching portfolio spans International Business, Strategic Management, Economics, and Sustainability, with a strong emphasis on interactive learning, case teaching, and problem-based engagement. He has also contributed to curriculum design aligned with AACSB and EQUIS standards and has supervised MBA dissertations and doctoral research.
He has previously served as Head of Accreditation & Ranking at Abu Dhabi University (AACSB & EQUIS accredited; ranked THE World top 150), successfully supporting EQUIS and AACSB reaccreditation. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and an active member of the Academy of International Business.
