Education Remains among Challenges of the New Decade Print

Moscow, January 27, 2010. - On January 21–23, 2010, ‘Russia and the World: New Decade Challenges’ International Conference organized by the Academy of National Economy under the RF Government, the Institute for the Economy in Transition and the Expert Council under the Government Committee on Improvement of the Sustainability of Russian Economy was held with participation of SKOLKOVO School of Management. The Conference was conducted in the form of a series of panel discussions and expert round tables, the participants of which presented and discussed their vision of the key trends and challenges of the country development.

SKOLKOVO: Education Remains among Challenges of the New DecadeProminent members of the RF Government, Heads of the RF Subjects, researchers, leading Russian and foreign economists participated and made presentations in panel discussions. The Conference focused on the prospects of socio-economic development of Russia in 2010s, and upgrading the Russia’s economy strategies, including the sphere of education. Andrei Volkov, Dean of SKOLKOVO, acted as the moderator of the ‘Continuous Education and Innovation-Based Development of Russia’s Economy’ round table held on January 21, the first day of the Conference.

A wide range of issues devoted to the role of higher education in the innovation-based development of Russia’s economy was discussed during the round table. Rectors of a number of leading universities, science-intensive high-tech corporations, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, heads of corporate educational structures, national experts in education modernisation took part in the round table.

Speakers expressed their opinion that the present-day Russian universities could play a significant role in the innovative transformation of the Russian economy on the condition of using new approaches to the educational work, innovations and management.

 


Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO is a joint project of Russian and international business representatives, who joined their efforts to create a business new-generation school from scratch. By sharing practical knowledge, the Moscow School of Management dedicates itself to training leaders, who intend to implement their professional knowledge in the conditions of rapidly developing markets. SKOLKOVO is defined by: leadership and business undertakings, rapidly developing markets focus, innovative approach towards educational methods. 

The SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management  project is fulfilled by the governmental-private partnership within the framework of the Education Foreground National Project. The project is financed by private investors, and doesn’t use governmental budget recourses. The President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev is Chairman of the SKOLKOVO International Advisory Board. 

Since 2006 SKOLKOVO conducts short educational programs Executive Education for top and medium-level managers – the programs are held in an open manner, and specialized, developed basing on the companies requests comprehensive modules. In January 2009 the school started the Executive МВА programme. The first class of the international Full-time MBA program has been enrolled, the classes started in September 2009.
